What educators are saying

This is great. I use it as part of an interactive Maths lapbook-type learning. The students love it being more than copying from the board. Adds interest without effort.
This was used while teaching distance and face to face simultaneously. I think I have almost all of the units from this seller. They are easy to add or take slides away to make the lesson fit your teaching style and your classroom needs.

Description

Decimals: Models, Standard, Word, Expanded Form, Rounding, and Comparing

These resources help simplify a challenging topic! I spent about 3 weeks teaching this unit to my own fifth grade students, and I can attest to its success.

My students love the interactive notes and refer to them often. I create interactive notes with minimal cutting and gluing so that it does not take too much time away from the actual lesson. If you do not use interactive notes, you can always print them out and use them as a packet.

The PowerPoint lesson is sequential and builds understanding. The lesson starts with the foundation of decimals using base ten blocks and then moves into the algorithms. This really helped my students understand WHY we read, write, and interpret decimals in certain ways.

This unit includes:

Decimal Concepts PowerPoint Lesson(78 slides)
•Interactive Notes
•Decimal Concepts Practice Sheet
•Four Exit Tickets
Decimal Concepts Review Game and Answer Sheet
•Decimal Concepts Assessment

The presentation covers the following topics:

1. Understanding Decimals Using Models
2. Reading, Writing, and Drawing Decimals Using Models
3. Writing Numbers as Decimals and Fractions
4. Reading and Writing Decimals in Standard, Word, and Expanded Form
5. Comparing and Ordering Decimals
6. Rounding Decimals

Read, write, and compare decimals to thousandths.
Read and write decimals to thousandths using base-ten numerals, number names, and expanded form, e.g., 347.392 = 3 × 100 + 4 × 10 + 7 × 1 + 3 × (1/10) + 9 × (1/100) + 2 × (1/1000).
Compare two decimals to thousandths based on meanings of the digits in each place, using >, =, and < symbols to record the results of comparisons.
