Daily, Leveled Phonological Awareness Questions
There are monthly sheets included for every month of the year. For each day, there are three different questions (for level 1, 2, and 3).
Phonological Awareness Reference Lists
I included the full lists I used to make the monthly pages. This means there are over 100 target words for each of the targeted skills.
Phonological Awareness Reference Sheets for Speech Sounds
Last, I included reference sheets that make it easy to elicit speech sounds during your phonological awareness and phonemic awareness drills. There are reference sheets included for /f/, /v/, /k/, /g/, /t/, /d/, /s/, /z/, /l/, /r/, “ch”, “sh” , voice “th”, and voiceless “th”.
I also included a student visual (with directions on how I use it). See the preview for what this includes and looks like!
In my practice as an SLP, I’ve seen continued phonological awareness, and specifically phonemic awareness, difficulties persist into middle school. I wanted to create a resource that involved listening ONLY so that older students weren’t upset due to using materials obviously intended for a younger audience. That is also why I framed the questions as a “challenge”. I completed the daily questions with my students as a warm-up right at the beginning of the session and framed it like a daily puzzle (aka “sound puzzle”).
This resource should also work well as a reference guide when doing phonological awareness with younger students as well. It also works well as homework for families to complete each day!
