DIGITAL: Making Inferences Comprehension Strategy

**IMPORTANT** This is a resource for use with Google Slides. You will download a PDF with the links to the resources. You will then be prompted to make a copy of each before you make any changes (select pages to assign, etc).

Making inferences is a skill we use constantly and it's so important for reading comprehension! But, it can sometimes be hard for young learners to grasp.

This bundle includes a teaching presentation that breaks down this difficult concept into easy-to-follow steps! It even has AUDIO, which is perfect for distance learning! Your students can simply click to hear the presentation read to them.

It has everything you need to teach and reinforce inferring in a fun, exciting way!!

In keeping with my character packs, this one has Inferring Iguana to help make the strategy more memorable and engaging, but using the mascot is optional and I included posters and bookmarks without it.

~5 Reading Passages- FIVE differentiated passages, three versions of each:

Version 1- Students read or listen to story, complete the sentence, and highlight evidence.

Version 2- Slightly more difficult text, answer 3 questions, highlight evidence.

Version 3- Students type their own inferences from the passages.

~3 'Who Lives Here?' Slides- Time for detective hats! Students look at pictures of bedrooms and infer about the person that lives there! Bonus B&W printable scene included.

~3 'Who's at Work?' Slides- Differentiated (6 total)- Students drag the speech bubbles to the correct workers in the scene.

~3 'What Animal am I?' Slides- Differentiated (6 total)- Students read case files and drag the animal to its corresponding file. Easy version has simple clues. Harder version has a short paragraph.

~5 Picture Inferences Slides- Students come up with an inference about the picture and explain how they know.

~3 Blank Making Inferences Graphic Organizers: Can be used with any book, or as planning for writing. Students can type in text boxes.
