What educators are saying

Thank you! This is a great resource to guide me and for helping my students understand the standards.

Description

Learning Targets

These fifth grade Common Core and Next Generation Science Standard aligned learning targets are a quick, easy and efficient way to help your students meet their daily learning objectives in Math, Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening, and Science. They are written in kid-friendly language so that your students can easily understand exactly what it is that they will be learning and will be able to express it back to you. They also include some of the higher-level common core language that they will hear and use year after year.

Success Criteria♥

Learning targets are an amazing way to help your students take ownership in their own learning process. But then what? Show your students exactly HOW they will be successful at meeting their daily, weekly or unit long objectives. Each of these ready to go success criteria are aligned to the Math, Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening, and Science Common Core and Next Generation Science Standards for fifth grade. They explicitly tell and/or show your students different ways to be successful in meeting their learning targets. They come in both color and black and white, so you can choose what works best for you. They help your students understand each step in the process of meeting the specific standard they are working on.

They're Digital

This is a DIGITAL (Google Slides) version of the original paper versions seen here:

**This resource comes as a link in a PDF file. Click on the link and you will be prompted to 'Make a copy'. Directions on how to get started are included in the PDF.

They're Convenient

What makes them so quick, easy and efficient? There’s no more writing objectives or success criteria before each lesson…for EVERY subject…and trying to word them just right. They’re already done! Simply find which one you need and post it for your students to see. The standard is written in the lower right corner, so it’s quick and easy to find your learning targets and success criteria in seconds. No more spending tons of time trying to come up with what the success criteria will be or having to do it on the fly with your students. Now you can spend your time planning the actual instruction!

They're Practical

The targets come in two forms so you can choose which works best for you and your students from year to year:

• Smaller learning targets for when you need room on the page for other text

• Larger learning targets for students to see well

They're Versatile

♦ Post them on your digital platform next to your learning targets, standards or objectives

♦ Use it as a guide as you type them with your students

They're Editable

Both learning target versions (small and large) and the success criteria come with an editable template, so you can add or change the wording on any targets to meet the needs of your students or teaching style.

Extras

This contains a learning target symbol for your learning targets to point to. Just copy and paste it (with some creativity) to each slide.

Viola! You’re meeting your student’s needs, your professional requirements and putting the learning back into the hands of your students all with the snap of your fingers!

Know relative sizes of measurement units within one system of units including km, m, cm; kg, g; lb, oz.; l, ml; hr, min, sec. Within a single system of measurement, express measurements in a larger unit in terms of a smaller unit. Record measurement equivalents in a two-column table. For example, know that 1 ft is 12 times as long as 1 in. Express the length of a 4 ft snake as 48 in. Generate a conversion table for feet and inches listing the number pairs (1, 12), (2, 24), (3, 36),...
Use the four operations to solve word problems involving distances, intervals of time, liquid volumes, masses of objects, and money, including problems involving simple fractions or decimals, and problems that require expressing measurements given in a larger unit in terms of a smaller unit. Represent measurement quantities using diagrams such as number line diagrams that feature a measurement scale.
Apply the area and perimeter formulas for rectangles in real world and mathematical problems. For example, find the width of a rectangular room given the area of the flooring and the length, by viewing the area formula as a multiplication equation with an unknown factor.
Make a line plot to display a data set of measurements in fractions of a unit (1/2, 1/4, 1/8). Solve problems involving addition and subtraction of fractions by using information presented in line plots. For example, from a line plot find and interpret the difference in length between the longest and shortest specimens in an insect collection.
Recognize angles as geometric shapes that are formed wherever two rays share a common endpoint, and understand concepts of angle measurement:
