Description

Update: This activity just got a MAJOR facelift on 6-26-23!

"DIARY of a Pet Rock" is a fun activity if you are teaching your students about rocks.

Materials Needed: "DIARY of a Pet Rock", rocks, wiggle eyes, and a "house". You can purchase the rocks, or you can take your class on a walk to collect rocks. I purchased all materials from Hobby Lobby. The students will adhere the wiggle eyes to their rocks and decorate the houses. Students will keep their rocks in the houses to transport them to and from school safely.

"DIARY of a Pet Rock".

Page 1- Each student will complete a profile page on his or her rock.

Page 2- Students will read a set of directions for completing the diary. They will also be given suggestions on what they can write about each day.

Pages 2-6- Students will complete diary entries and "take photographs" of activities they do with their rocks. Students can draw their photographs or take actual photographs...your choice.

This diary will take a week to complete (5 entry pages).

A rubric is included for easy grading!

I hope you and your students enjoy this activity!
