Description

**Culture and Immigration through a Social Justice Lens**

Address these essential questions:

  • What is Culture?
  • Why is culture important?
  • What is your culture?
  • How does culture evolve?
  • How can culture be taken away?
  • How can cultures merge?
  • What is Immigration?
  • What are different forms of immigration?

This product is a 5-page worksheet/handout on culture, globalization, and deculturalization. It is designed to be part of the Native American Art and Poetry Mash-Up (check it out Here!). However, this can be a standalone lesson on the topics described or serve as an introduction to Language Arts or History lessons involving immigration and culture. It covers complex topics, so I would recommend this for advanced junior high students, high school students, homeschoolers, or for adult/teacher education. It could be used as an introduction to the concept of colonization and what it looks like for the people involved, modern issues associated with globalization and the merging of cultures, and as teacher education/professional development.

Below is a breakdown of the worksheet content:

Page 1: Globalization and the Merging of Cultures

What is culture? Why is it important and what happens when it's taken away?

Page 2: Immigration, Migration, Colonization, Globalization, Travel

Page 3: Merged Cultures

Page 4: Education in Merged Cultures

Page 5: Word Search and Vocabulary Fill-In.
