What educators are saying

I love these--I so wanted something that correlated with all the monthly emphasis topics, and this does just that! However, I wish there had been a title page for the presentation in the classroom that would match the fonts, etc. Thank you, though, for doing all this work!

Description

Thank you for checking out this FULLY EDITABLE poster set of Scientists of the Month showcased through Cultural Appreciation and Awareness!

This resource is meant to be printed on your school’s black and white printer (yay public schools!).

You have two options of printing this for your walls:

  • The first option is to print the name, biography, and photo on one paper; I recommend printing on white paper.
  • The second and my preferred method of printing is to print the name and biography on Astrobright paper, and then print the photo on white paper to create a silhouette effect.

You’ll notice August being a “cheeky” month as there is currently no specific cultural appreciation for the month of August at the time this resource was created and is meant to start the year with something fun and interesting that students may not normally consider.

The following months have 4-6 scientists per month:

  • August - National Hair Loss Awareness Month
  • September - National Hispanic Heritage Month (Sep. 15 to Oct. 15)
  • October - Filipino American History Month
  • November - Native American Indian/Alaska Native Heritage Month
  • December - International Day of Persons with Disabilities (December 3rd)
  • January - Poverty in America Awareness Month
  • February - Black History Month
  • March - Women’s History Month
  • April - Arab American Heritage Month
  • May - Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month
  • June - Pride Month

My students loved learning about their own culture and I know yours will too!
