Description

Whether you teach Video Production, English, History, Social Studies, Fashion Design - any subject area - vlogs are an excellent project to have students produce a simple video with nothing more than a cell phone and microphone needed.

I've used this project with my high school students for reflections after a unit wraps up, rather than a reflective essay, and as a video journal of their school year from start to finish!

This step-by-step Create a Vlog project guide will walk students through the four steps to make a vlog: Pre-Production (naming it and creating an outline), Production (filming), Post-Production (editing - through a free app or editing software) and Post-Production (publishing/sending you the video). There are two grades for students: a formative grade for the completion of the Vlog Outline and a summative grade for the finished project, which can be graded using the included Vlog Rubric.

The project typically takes 3 class periods for high school students to complete: 1 day for planning, 1 for filming and 1 for editing/exporting. The project guide is presented in a flexible way for students to work at their own pace or to follow your deadline.
