Description

Can you calm down Crankenstein?

Connect STEM with Social Emotional Learning with this Halloween STEM activity in which students engineer a Calm Down Fidget for Crankenstein! An excellent companion activity to the fall read aloud book Crankenstein by Samantha Berger.

The Engineering Design Process:

In this STEM Challenge, students design and build a calm down fidget for Crankenstein. They follow the six step Engineering Design Process: Ask, Imagine, Plan, Create, Experiment, Improve.

Students plan, design, and execute their own ideas. After they have completed their activity, there is time for reflection on what worked and what didn't.

A how-to writing extension is included for students to write about how to make their calm down fidget.
