Constitution Day Activity: "Constitution Memory Match" Game

I'm always looking for a few quick, easy and fun things to plug in for Constitution Day on September 17th that are relevant yet age appropriate for early elementary.

Teacher Comments:

• “Great support and independent activity for students. They can easily learn some of the key persons for our study of the constitution.”
• “Loved this! I used this with my special education high school students during our study of the Constitution. They loved it!”
• "Great resource."

With that in mind, I created this "Memory Match" game that you can set up as an independent center/station.

You can also play an "I Have; Who Has?" game. "I have George Washington. Who has his name card?"

Use the picture cards to build vocabulary and explain a bit about the Constitution.

"The men on these cards are some of the "Framers" that worked on the Constitution." etc.

Use them as flashcards to see who can tell who or what's on the card and how it relates to Constitution Day.

Later in the year, bring the game out again in February for Presidents' Day, posing the questions: "Which of these men became President?" "Who was the first?" etc.
