    Description

Engage your 5th, 6th and 7th grade students with cultures around the world as they learn about communities in Panama and Guatemala, as well as at home in the US.  Students will understand through cultural geography about needs faced in diverse communities.  Introducing students to community service, when paired with cultural geography, is a powerful learning experience.  Students learn to identify needs in their own community and global communities.  However, the learning goes beyond identifying needs.

Guide students through learning about what they can do to help others.  Through community service projects students can learn to be world changers.  Students will explore 3 different service projects through the resources in this bundle.  Challenge students to choose a plan or create one of their own in order to help others in the local or global community.  These resources provide opportunities for deep discussions in social emotional learning, basic human rights, and helping others.

Connecting Cultures Around the World and Community Service includes:

    • Cultural learning and community service project in Panama
    • Cultural learning and community service project in Latin America
    • Cultural learning and community service project with Senior Citizens
