Description

Use this versatile topic fan to spark up a class discussion about cases of conflicting human and/or civil rights, such as gun control, animal testing, drinking age, prisoner voting, gender issues, death penalty, school uniforms, and even COVID-19 related issues such as lockdown and limitations on protest rights.

This file includes 50 different cases of conflicting rights, along with directive questions to help your students start the discussion, and instructions on how to create the fan (all you have to do is print, cut and bind the cards together).

While you can use this fan in many ways, I recommend dividing the class into groups of 2-4 students, handing out each group a fan, and letting each group member choose a topic from the fan to discuss with the group. While discussing the topic, the group will need to identify the conflicting rights and then give their opinion on which right overrides the other(s) in this case.

This activity includes both a color version and a black & white version.

Please check out the preview file for more details.
