Comprehension Reading Log Grades 2-5

This is a great reading log to use for grades 2-5. It holds the students accountable for what they read each night and has them reflect each day on what they read. I have my students pick which square they want to do each day and they do the last page when they have finished the book.

My second grade students have been using this since the beginning of the year and have grown from DRA 10's to DRA 34's. I had to scaffold the instruction but the time has definitely paid off. You will need to model how to do each box for them. For example, show them how to do the first box and have them do it with you. Let them take that home and complete that same box on the book they read on their own. They have the model with them you did in class to help them if they (or their parents) get confused. Then introduce a new box the next day and so on until they know how to do each box.
