Common Core Detective Work 2.RL.1 Ask and Answer Questions

Turn-key lesson for Common Core Standard 2.RL.1 Ask and answer such questions as who, what, where, when, why, and how. This is a Smart board lesson for five days covering that standard for 2nd grade. The Smart board itself has four days of interactive lessons teaching the standard including a review assessment on the last day using the clickers (Senteo). The last day of lessons is a review using those slides in which you know your students need most.
On the paperclip of the Smart board you will find EVERYTHING you need to teach this standard. I have a graphic organizer ready to go with the lessons to be used with the class in whole group teaching or in your Direct Instructions small groups or you can have students use them individually during their fluency (silent) read time. You will also find a tip sheet to make the lessons even more fun. Tips like how to dress for the unit, 3-D anchor charts and how to pull the skill into your classroom all day! Also found on the paperclip of the Smart board ready for you to print and use, you will find the five day lesson plan. Step by step detailed lessons that follow the Smart board. The standard is listed as well as the script for each slide. Finally, you will find under the paperclip on the Smart board (to the left of the slides), the assessment that addresses the standard. Readability is 2nd grade and the assessment is EXACTLY what you taught all week with cold reads (passages your students have not seen).
The great thing about the Smart board and this lesson is that you can match it to whatever reading series your district is using or you can match it to a trade book of your choice. Not to mention that it's fun! Fun for you and fun for your students!
