You may want to print the Teacher Guide or have it open on a laptop or tablet for reference as you discuss the slideshow in class.

Recommended Pacing

If this lesson is a review for your class, you may be able to move fairly quickly through the presentation. If students are not already familiar with the comma usage rules, I recommend breaking this lesson into chunks of 2-3 rules at a time to allow for practice and reflection between segments.

Day 3 - Contrast, Quotes, Direct Address

Day 4 - Introductory Phrases, Compound Sentences

Day 5 - Dependent Clauses, Nonessential Phrases and Clauses, To Prevent Confusion, Do Not Use a Comma, Commas and Spacing
