What educators are saying

This activity is great. There are different ways you can use it. It got kids engaged and gave them a break from my usual style. I tend to be a little too much on the boring lecturer side. Every student got into it and was into the assignment. Totally worth the price.
My students gave very positive feedback after this activity. They loved having something that got them up, moving around and working with a partner. Printouts were well-done and well organized. Thanks!!

Description

In this activity, the teacher scatters and hides 26 Cold War event placards around the room. Students use QR readers to find the dates of the events and record the information on a handout. They then place the events in the correct chronological order on a timeline. Last, classes or groups compete to see who can put the Cold War events in the correct order the fastest! Students will have tons of fun while learning about important events that occurred during the Cold War.

No QR readers? No problem! A non-QR version is also included!

Note: The QR codes were designed for students to use a QR code reader app to reveal the event’s date. If students do not have a QR code reader app, they may use the camera on their device. However, the camera reads the QR code differently. It assumes they want an Internet search for the date (there is no way to control what sites the device pulls into the search). So, if students want to use their camera, they will need to first put their device in airplane mode or turn off the WiFi connection.

You may put the materials in this file on a LMS for STUDENT USE that RESTRICTS access like Google Drive, Google Classroom, OneDrive, Edmodo, Canvas, etc. where students are either invited via an email address or log in with a user name and password. IT MAY NOT BE UPLOADED TO A CLASS WEBSITE UNLESS THE SITE IS RESTRICTED TO STUDENTS WITH A LOGIN AND PASSWORD AND IT MAY NOT BE USED IN A COURSE ON OUTSCHOOL OR ANY SIMILAR PLATFORMS/MARKETPLACES.
