Cold War Bundle - 21 Products

This unit is titled "Cold War Bundle - 21 Products."

It includes 21 products. The unit begins with a lesson in which students are introduced to an overview of key events and asked to create their own museum exhibition of the Cold War using only 8 objects. They then explore the impact of the atomic bombing of Japan in a debate lesson in which they are issued character cards before a lesson on the causes of the Cold War in which students complete a card sort blaming both the West and the East for the collapse of the Grand Alliance. There is then a mix and match memory game to help understand the Korean War, a hexagonal card sort lesson to understand the causes, events and consequences of the Hungarian Uprising in 1956, and an escape room lesson to explain the importance of the Berlin Wall. There follows a What Would You Do exercise on the Cuban Missile Crisis, a model preparation lesson on the nature of fighting in the Vietnam War, and an interpretation lesson about My Lai - was William Calley simply a war criminal or was he a scapegoat? The unit proceeds with detailed History Mysteries on the moon landings and the assassination of President Kennedy. After this there are detailed PPT lessons on the nature of rule of both Khrushchev and Brezhnev. There is then a Gallery Walk lesson on the reasons the USSR lost the Afghanistan War. The unit comes to an end by exploring the collapse of Communism with an interpretation lesson about Gorbachev and a Jenga game-based lesson about the collapse of Communism. I have also included detailed revision menus to help students prepare for examinations as well as some fun revision activities (Top Trumps and Trivial Pursuit). I have also thrown in a copy of my book about International Relations in the Twentieth century which includes detailed notes on the Cold War.
