Description

It is so easy to explicitly teach your classroom rules, expectation and procedures with this comprehensive slideshow and and coordinating mini book. It is so important to take the time to teach students both behavior expectations and procedures in your classroom so you can build a positive rapport with all of your students. This resource works well for any grade level including preschool, kindergarten and first grade.

BILINGUAL UPDATE: this resource has been translated to Spanish and is included as a free bonus.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐"This was amazing to have for the first week back to school and it came in handy after returning from winter break to go over the rules again."

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐"This was an excellent resource that my students really enjoy. I used this during the first week of school to explicitly teach my students our classroom rules and expectations. Thank you for a great resource!"

--- IDEAS ON HOW TO USE THIS KIT ---

Each expectation is written as a positive "I Can..." statement to show students that I know they are capable of being successful.

The slides have real-life pictures and each one has examples of what the rule "looks like". I have learned that we cannot just tell students what a rule is.

Students need to know what it should look like, sound like and feel like to follow the rules and expectations.

  • I show them the picture example
  • Discuss what the expectation looks like in action
  • We practice and act out the expectation together as a class

After we read, discuss and practice each rule, students then read and color a coordinating page in their School Rules Mini Book.

This sequence of activities provides students multiple opportunities to see, discuss, practice and implement each classroom expectation.

I have found that these lessons provide the scaffolding many students need in order to fully understand what is expected.

I cover about 3-4 expectations each day for the first 2-3 weeks of school.

We also review, review, review and practice each rule again as needed.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ "I didn't realize how much I would use this resource when I first purchased it...going on two years now! It is a great way to start online chats with students and get them talking about themselves!"
