What educators are saying

My students loved using this kindness activity. We used it with our elf and he gave us a daily challenge.
I use this to focus more on kindness than on the constant tattle telling. It has really helped them to try to be kind.

Description

Encourage your students to engage in random acts of kindness throughout the year! The "Classroom Kindness Challenge" is perfect for kids of all ages and will really help students focus on what is important. A great way to build character and classroom community at the end of the year, during the back to school season, or ANY time!

MAKE SURE TO DOWNLOAD THE PREVIEW FILE FOR A CLOSER LOOK AT WHAT IS INCLUDED AND IDEAS ON HOW TO DISPLAY THE KINDNESS COUNTDOWN!

WHAT'S INCLUDED:

•4 header options

•Days 1-180 Cards:

Each card has the day number on the front and an act of kindness for students to perform on the back. Print them double-sided on card stock, or glue the front and back together. (I've included days 1-180 in case you want to extend the challenge throughout the whole year!)

•25 Acts of Kindness Cards:

These are designed to be easily accomplished by students at school. You will not need many resources or additional materials. You can decide whether students will complete each task independently or whether you will work together as a class community to complete each act.

•6 "Come up with your own" Cards:

If you choose to use the countdown format, I suggest asking students to take responsibility for generating the acts of kindness for the final few days. This will help them take ownership over the experience and make them more likely to carry on random acts of kindness on their own.

•Editable Pages:

In addition to coming up with your own random acts of kindness, you could also use the editable card pages to create your own countdown activities - either other random acts of kindness, writing prompts, daily math problems, etc.

•Be Kind Challenge "Bingo Board" Option:

The “bingo board” option can be used alongside the classroom display or as a stand-alone piece. You could give the page to students as a monthly challenge, to follow along with the class challenge, etc.

•COLOR AND BLACK AND WHITE VERSIONS FOR ALL PAGES

ALSO INCLUDES:

•Weekly cards (Week 1, Week 2, etc.) and "This Week's Challenge" cards in case you prefer to use the challenge weekly rather than daily

•FULL PAGE VERSIONS of all cards

•LOW INK VERSIONS

I've marked this resource for grades 2-5, but I believe it can absolutely be used successfully with students of pretty much any age. We can all use a little more kindness in our lives, right?!

IDEAS FOR DISPLAYING THE COUNTDOWN

Click here to see tons of ideas from teachers who have shared their displays on Instagram!

•Hang the cards on clothespins along a ribbon

•Tack them to a bulletin board

•Put them in a pocket chart

•Use magnets on your whiteboard

•Put all of the cards into a jar or “kindness cup”. Place it in an area that is easily accessible to students so that they can use it for ideas throughout the year. You might also have students add their own ideas to the cup throughout the year.

This resource would work well with your own school-aged children at home, too! Although please note, if you are working in a homeschool setting, some cards will need to be adapted.
