What educators are saying

These match my classroom decor so well. Excited for the opportunity to teach my preschoolers sign language.
Great classroom decor! Loved how colorful and fun it is, and how it brought sign language to the classroom.

Description

***MAJOR UPDATE 6/11/22 to include 12 ADDITIONAL hand signs, new poster styles, and the option of clipart as a visual aid for struggling readers!

These Classroom Hand Signal Posters are part of a Woodland Animal Classroom decor theme! This color scheme is used throughout the other Woodland Animal products. There are a lot of simple posters offered in this pack, however, so if you are not following the Woodland Animal Decor, this will work for your classroom, too!

There are five different types of posters to choose from:

  1. Simple: Full-page posters with a black-and-white border
  2. Color Scheme: Full-page posters with borders that follow the Woodland color scheme: teal, light pink, orange, yellow, dark blue
  3. Visual Aid Clipart: Full-page posters with an additional clipart image to help struggling readers. These are available in the simple and the color scheme, as well as the circles (see below). The following words have this clipart: pencil, sit, stand, tissue, toilet, restroom, bathroom, wash, and water.
  4. Woodland Creatures: Full-page posters that contain the woodland creatures clipart.
  5. 5in.x 5in. Circles: These come two to a page. These have the option of including the visual aid clipart as well.

I taught my first grade students the ASL signs for restroom, water, tissue, sit, stand, and yes this past year to help with classroom management and minimize disruptions. I used the "sit" hand sign to remind them to fix the way they are sitting during carpet time. It's a quick, silent reminder that worked for a lot of my students! They used the "restroom" sign to ask permission and I would respond with the "yes" or "no" sign. There was not an ASL clipart sign for "wait" or "one second" if a child asked to use the restroom and I needed them to wait a minute, so I taught them that if I held up one finger, that meant wait one minute.
