What educators are saying

My students and I really enjoyed using this resource after discussing the 13-15th amendments and how even 80 years after the passing of the amendments there was racial segregation. They found it very interesting. Thank you.
My students loved this resource to learn about the Civil Rights Movement! I had stations around the classroom and students would "travel" to a different station after a period of time. The students like learning about what happened in different states. Everything was easy to print and to read.

Description

This fantastic Civil Rights Movement lesson plan is inspired by the "Freedom Riders". Included are 7 one page readings on major events of the Civil Rights Movement (Brown Vs. The Board of Ed., The Little Rock 9, The Montgomery Bus Boycott, etc) that students read as they travel around the room.

As your students stop and read about each event, they complete a graphic organizer and map each event. This is a great activity to get students moving around the room. It can also be completed in groups, or used for student presentations. A completed example is included as well as several additional ideas on how to present the lesson.

This download includes both printable and Google Drive versions of the activity! If you're in a paperless classroom or just want to integrate more digital resources, you can use the provided link to bring this resource into Google Classroom!

The editable Google version features links to online resources about each event in the Civil Rights Movement along with a digital postcard that they create at the end.

This product can also be downloaded as part of the larger Civil Rights Movement Unit Bundle which includes many additional resources and lesson plans for your Civil Rights Movement unit!

Thanks for checking it out!
