Citizenship Unit: This unit includes 6 citizenship lesson plans with lots of hands-on activities and passages. Each lesson plan incorporates social studies and literacy skills. Students will investigate--
- the process by which a person becomes a U.S. citizen
- the First Amendment rights guaranteed to all citizens
- the rights guaranteed to all citizens by due process and equal protection of laws
- civic duties and civic responsibilities
- traits of good citizenship
These citizenship lesson plans include:
- 8 Worksheets
- 8 Task cards: Students will read scenarios about different people and determine whether those people are eligible for citizenship.
- 6 Entry/exit Tickets
- 5 Close reading passages and comprehension questions: All of the passages and questions can also be shared with students digitally and completed using Google Slides.
- 4 Sorts and foldables
- 1 Escape room activity: In Citizenship Escape Room, students will complete challenges to learn about civic duties and civic responsibilities.
- 1 Group activity: Students will work in groups to create models of good citizens.
