Christmas Vocabulary

Many kids struggle with vocabulary development.  It could be due to age, background knowledge, or a disability.  This resource is meant to help you help your child or your student learn and understand 15 common vocabulary words surrounding the Christmas holiday.

The resource starts with a video that goes through each vocabulary word in this unit of study.  I encourage you to have students watch the video daily, for as long as it takes to master the words.  Ideally, a new word will be introduced each day, or 5 words in one week.  

We chose to use a multidisciplinary approach to these words.  We start with the video for all words. For each individual word, we have added a flashcard, a song/story/video specific to the word, and a suggested, simple art project. (*If art projects are not your thing, you can easily supplement with a coloring page.)

Once you have taught a set of five words, you can introduce the match game for the first 5 words.  When you have taught all 15 words, you can start using the Bingo cards to play bingo.  

We also included two ten frame counting activities.  These will allow you to easily incorporate vocabulary in your counting math lessons. 

Lastly, we have included a data sheet.  This data sheet will allow you to collect data for your students noting which students master which words.
