Description

This is a Christmas-themed story that targets figurative language (i.e., idioms, similes, etc.) perfect for upper-elementary students and beyond. This item includes the story, the story with bolded figurative phrases, 20 multiple choice reading comprehension questions targeting main idea, author's purpose, feelings, actions, plans, themes, vocabulary, recalling details, and more. It also has 5 short response questions that targets higher-level thinking such as perspective taking, feelings, comparing and contrasting, and problem-solving. I have also included a blank figurative phrase and meaning chart, a chart with phrases but no meanings, and a chart with meanings and no phrases where the students have to use context clues to determine the meaning. I have also included an enlarged version of the phrases and meanings that you can print, cut up and have the students match. Answer keys are included. Christmas Acrostic Poem also included.
