Description

Chicka Chicka Boom Boom -engaging, low-prep science experiment, engineering challenge, math centers & more! This is a complete STEM Unit to go along with the "Chicka Chicka Boom Boom" story. Easily incorporate cross curricular STEM activities into your classroom to go with this fun story! Check out the preview for more details!

Chicka Chicka Boom Boom Activities Included:

Science:

5 Senses Exploration - As a class group, examine a coconut and then chart how the students describe it using their senses. A student response sheet is included.

Coconut Tasting graph - After tasting the coconut, create a class graph about their opinions. A student response sheet is included.

Technology:

★ QR Codes with links to YouTube videos with different versions of the story – these are safe links so no ads will display. There are also QR codes for videos about the coconut life cycle and traditional dances, to help build your students' schemas.

Engineering:

Students create their own coconut tree using either popsicle sticks and blocks! A Challenge Announcement, Planning Booklet and Challenge Completion Certificate are included for each challenge.

Math:

★ Chicka Chicka Boom Boom Puzzle – cut out and laminate puzzle. Students put the numbers 1-10 or 1`1-20 in order to make the puzzle.

★ Pattern Block Tree – students use pattern blocks to create a tree, then count and record how many of each shape they used.

★ Roll & Cover Games – a mat for number recognition 1-6 and addition with 2 dice.

★ Ten Frames Mat - – students choose a numeral card and place it on their mat, then they represent the number by placing manipulatives on the ten frame. There is a mat for numbers 0-10 and one for 0-20 so you can differentiate for your students.

Retelling Center:

Editable Class Book for "Chicka Chicka Boom Boom Look Who Is In Our Room!". You can type in your students' names and how many letters and each student will get their own customized page in the book!

Student Crown - students can color and wear their crowns to celebrate the end of the unit!
