What educators are saying

This is the perfect resource for students who are beginning to develop category concepts. It has multiple sets of stimuli with items/categories that are familiar from their home/community/school.
This is one of my go to materials when working on categories during speech therapy sessions. The slides keep the students engaged.

Description

TEACH AND PRACTICE CATEGORIES with this deck of Boom Cards™ activities! A mini-lesson and multiple levels are included to support your students in developing category knowledge from the ground up.

The first card in the activity provides a quick lesson about what a category is, including a clear and simple explanation, examples, and visuals. Then, the clickable menu card allows you to navigate to the activity that's perfect for each student:

✅ View a group of objects and SELECT THE CATEGORY NAME (from 4 choices)

SORT 7 objects into 2 labeled category boxes (by dragging and dropping)

SORT 7 objects into 3 labeled category boxes (by dragging and dropping)

✅ View a set of 5 objects and SELECT WHICH DOESN'T BELONG in the category

IDENTIFY 4 ITEMS in a named category (using fill-in-the-blank answers)

This activity helps your students understand categories at multiple levels. They'll progress through the activities across several sessions as they gain a deeper understanding of categorization.

The lesson card can be referred to as needed throughout any of the 5 practice activities to support students as they advance. Each practice activity has 10 cards to provide ample opportunities for practice without overwhelming the student.

This Boom Card deck makes categories less abstract and helps streamline your teaching and practice of this goal. The bright, colorful pictures and multiple answer types (multiple choice, drag & drop, and fill-in-the-blank) keep students engaged in the language activity.

SLPs and teachers like you are saying....

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Katherine B. says, "This resource includes everything that I need to work on categories at different levels and in different ways with students. I also like to use this in mixed groups to target different language skills. It's useful to use via teletherapy and easy to incorporate with different goals."

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Erika J. says, "This resource was fantastic. The different levels were incredibly helpful, and I love any resource with a dedicated teaching page, so the students have something to focus their attention on while I'm teaching a skill."
