Canada's Provinces & Territories Research Project Poster

For each province or territory the students will need to:

*Include a title
*Shade in the province or territory on a map of Canada
*Draw the shape of the province or territory OR draw the official flag of the province or territory *This is the only variation between the two versions
*Draw a symbol of the province or territory (i.e. the official bird or flower)
*Include the capital city, the official bird, and the official flower
*Include one "fact", one "interesting fact", and one "REALLY interesting fact"

I copy this research poster double sided (to save paper) and use it with my Grade 2 students during our unit on Canada's provinces and territories. Before beginning we discuss the differences between facts and opinions, and we talk about facts, interesting facts, and REALLY interesting facts (i.e. "WOW" facts).

The poster is designed to be used with any province or territory in Canada. Students work through as many provinces and territories guided by their interests and during an allotted frame of time. The next step to these projects is to take this information on the posters to create presentations of the provinces and territories using an app on the iPads (I try a different app every year).

There are two versions of this poster and each poster comes in two different sizes (11x17 OR 8.5x11). That being said, it's all made to be printed on an 11x17 piece of paper (slice pg.3 in half for the 8.5x11 versions).
