Can You Cash This? (Personal financial literacy 6 week unit)

This six weeks unit was created to deal with TEKS objective 4(10),
Personal Financial Literacy. I wanted the students to have to actually
write a check, make deposits, but not be able to do so until a
challenging word problem or bar graph had been answered. There are
5 lessons per week. In my classroom, I used the guided practice and
independent practice to teach my students how to handle the word
problems, writing the checks, making the deposits or checkbook
registry. They had until Thursday to get the problems done outside of
class. Friday morning, I asked for the check registry of each student and
graded. If a student had a mistake, they had to rework the problems
and their computation on their check registry to find this mistake.
When correct, come Monday, they would receive their new packet for
week two.
