Description

A reading, grammar and etiquette lesson all in one. This lesson was targeted at intermediate or advanced level adult ESL students to discuss social etiquette around calls vs texting. This was part of a soft skills unit to help students with the often unspoken cultural rules of communication.

Discussion questions focus on different social situations and what form of communication is most appropriate.

Reading includes embedded support around two grammar points. One is the use of "since" and the present perfect tense and usage. Second is the use of passive voice in a short reading on the history of texting.

This was always an activity that produced a lot of discussion in my classes! Hope you enjoy it.
