Description
Once our students have mastered reading and blending CVC words with the short vowel sounds its time to build on that knowledge with long vowel sounds. This pack focuses on CVCe words. Whether you call it Bossy E, Magic E, Sneaky E, or Silent E this set of task cards will help your students learn and understand the e phonics rule as they practice changing real CVC words to CVCe words by adding the 'e' to the end and making the vowel say it's name.
Students pick a CVC word card and read the word - each card has a corresponding picture that helps students confirm the word. They then find the correct 'e' card to make a new CVCe word with a long vowel sound. The 'e' card has a new picture to help show how the word has now changed it's meaning.
The CVC to CVCe Bossy E pack includes:
- 32 CVC picture word cards
- 32 picture 'e' cards to create CVCe words
- 8 bonus picture word cards with blend sounds (CCVC words)
- 8 bonus picture 'e' cards (CCVCe words)
- 4 different 'I Can' cards
Note: With the 'I Can' cards I have included one for Bossy E, Magic E, Sneaky E, and Silent E to allow you to use this resource in your classroom with the wording that you prefer.
