About this book:

This unit contains 180 CVC phoneme segmenting cards to assist children learning to isolate sounds. 16 worksheets with pictures are also included as well as a blank worksheet with no pictures.

Please note: The clip art used on the cards and worksheets are different.

The cards in this unit are arranged in alphabetical order so that they can be used with a “Letter of the Week” curriculum; however, they can be used an independent activity.

Directions for use:

Print the pages you wish to use, laminate them for durability and then cut along the dashed lines to separate the cards. You will need to supply Scrabble letters or other small letters for this activity.

Children begin by saying the name of the picture on the card. As they slowly sound out the word, they touch each square to represent the individual sounds heard in the word. They then place a letter tile in each square to show the sounds heard and read the whole word. Once finished, children can complete the recording sheet included in this unit.
