Description

Teach Congressional Debate in 5 weeks with this detailed unit plan!

Product includes:

  • A scale to be used throughout the unit, including Florida standards.
  • Lesson plans complete with bellwork, direct instruction, activities, and exit tickets as well as ideas for modification, enhancement, and VIRTUAL learning.
  • A PowerPoint presentation with 248 slides to take you step by step through the lessons (as well as a PDF version if you prefer that format).
  • Original videos, each approximately 10 minutes in length, explaining the following topics: Congressional Debate overview, Writing Legislation, Writing and Delivering a Speech, Questioning, Presiding Officer, and Judging.
  • Worksheets to be used in the unit including outlines for writing speeches, recency practice, ballots, and a presiding officer script.

As the files for this unit plan are too large for the TpT platform, you will find a word document when you complete your purchase, containing a link to the google drive folder dedicated to this unit plan. As always, if you have questions, custom needs, or notice an issue in the files- please send me a message and I will address your concerns. apryltaylor922@gmail.com

This unit plan should include everything you could possibly need to engage in a 5 week Congressional Debate unit. It will keep your students engaged while ensuring they improve their research process, argumentation strategies, and public speaking abilities.

This unit is intended to be used in a Speech and/or Debate course but could certainly be adapted to a Civics, Government, or English class.

If you are looking for something less detailed to use with your team, I recommend purchasing my “Your Guide to Speech and Debate Bundle” or, as always, consulting the NSDA website to find great information about and resources for events.
