What educators are saying

Great resource, easy to use and adapt for my caseload, kids loved it. Thank you for creating and sharing!
I love these photos! I didn't use the scripted stories that came with the photos, but used just the photos to have my students sequence photos from an auditory photo. It's hard to find photos for this type of activity!

    Description

Struggling to engage your students in AUDITORY COMPREHENSION activities? These short stories, paired with real photos that students can relate to, invite engagement and spontaneous comments. Activities like going to the park, the beach, or having a birthday party are familiar to many children. This makes it easy to work on Language Comprehension and Story re-telling.

Each picture card is paired with a short story and comprehension questions. Students in small groups who have mixed language goals can use these materials together, as you target what each student is working on. You’ll be able to track progress using the included Data Collection sheets.

Do you prefer working on an ipad or laptop with your students? Or with bigger groups using an interactive board? No problem! This set includes a link to two different designs of Google Slides©: one set where each picture slide is followed by its story/questions card, and another option with the story and questions in the slides notes.

Here are the five stories that you'll get:

    ⭐️ Peter at the Park

    ⭐️ Sophie’s Summer Day

⭐️ A Day at the Beach

⭐️ Lily and her brother Max

    ⭐️ Jamie’s Birthday

    Included in each story set:

    • 16 photos and corresponding story/ comprehension question cards
    • Data collection sheets for responses to questions and story re-telling
    • Google slides© deck option 1: each photo followed by it’s story and questions
    • Google slides© deck option 2:: each photo with it’s story and questions in the slide notes

Your students will love following the adventures of the featured children in each story set.

Enhancement activities could include compare:contrast what the student sees in the photos to what they do in the same scenarios.

Record spontaneous language samples by asking your students what they like to do in the same locations or activities (eg: at the park, the beach, at a birthday party.)

Prep is quick and easy... Just print the photo and story cards on white card stock (8 pages total per story, four cards per page) cut the cards on the dotted lines, and you're ready for a fun and engaging activity! Print out the data collection sheets and you are all set for progress monitoring. Or use the digital versions on ipads, laptops or smart boards.

SLPS are raving about Picture Card and Story products…

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Angela M. says, "Handy resource with beautiful real-life photos to incorporate into my therapy in a variety of different ways!."

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Miranda H. says, "I originally bought this because of the use of real-life photographs to help build/access schema and for the accompanying stories to target listening comprehension. The short episodes have narrative elements for story retell and include a good combination of detail, comprehension, and vocabulary questions. The product was even more comprehensive than I realized, as it has data sheets for all the stories. Love it! "

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Eleanor says, "I used this resource to work on listening comprehension and story retell with my students. I love that this resource uses real photos instead of clip art. !"

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Jamie S. says, "I really enjoy these short stories and photo prompts. These are great to target retell and comprehension! "
