When you see this kind of confusion it tells you that this student does not understand the correct spelling to match the context of each word. It is usually an incidental issue that you observe as part of another piece of work. If it is corrected only once, or ignored, it can persist for years. I specialise in literacy intervention now and it has paid me to develop this bundle of games and have them on hand for intensive daily remediation. A skill targeted game is the perfect way to ensure this student learns to distinguish the context and correct spelling. It has to be played at least daily and I send it home as well if I can. I have found about a week is all it takes.
