How to CER Graphic Organizers | Interactive Science Notebook | Mindfulness | Interactive Notebook

This product is packed full of resources. It includes a presentation, 5 graphic organizers to help students to understand how to write a CER essay, and a grading rubric. Additionally, there are bonus materials such as class posters, an interactive notebook checklist, and a sentence starter printable.

Students begin with a pre-write graphic organizer. This helps students to define any unknown terms in the question as well as list the scientific concepts that are covered. In the second step, students will fill out the CER graphic organizer. There are 3 formats included; a scaffolded version, simple CER, and a CER with space for a graph. The scaffolded version walks students through each step giving them sentence starters. Once students have their organizers filled out, they will partner to read their CER out loud. Students will view the rubric and help to advise their partner as to changes that could refine their writing. Students then revise their CER on the CER paragraph organizer. Each Organizer has a mindfulness message at the bottom to encourage students.

The presentation will guide students along with the graphic organizers. There are videos embedded in the presentation that help teach the process. Additionally, there are two commercials that make a claim. Students can practice their CER skillset with you while having fun deciding their claim and finding evidence to back it.

All setup and ready to go! These work great with interactive notebooks or posted on your LMS, like Schoology, for students to work through.
