Description
This set includes the resources needed to tackle the Common Core Reading Standards for Informational Texts in any high school course.
Organized by anchor standard, each section includes the following:
* graphic organizers (over 20 total covering language analysis, scene comparison, central idea development, claim development, language comparison, key word analysis, text development, text structure, rhetorical devices, rhetorical analysis, speech comparison, argument evaluation, reasoning evaluation, U.S. theme comparisons and more)
* student overview handouts with practice activities and teacher notes for standards that require background knowledge (covering figurative language, tone and diction, text structure, rhetorical analysis and devices, argumentation, logical fallacies and more)
* standard extension activities and essay assignments
* reading lists of speeches, essays and books organized by English course (with links to short works)
Teachers can pick and choose readings and activities based on their students’ level, prior knowledge and interest.
