As a third grade teacher with diverse learners, I plan many group, center, and station activities. I noticed that my students often struggle with getting along in these groups when I am not there, and this interferes with their learning and ability to engage in collaborative discussions. I created a S.E.L.F.I.E. acronym to help students self-reflect when in small groups rather than casting blame on others. It has helped tremendously! Students refer to the poster in order to remind them how to behave and interact in a variety of small-group settings.
This attachment includes a poster-size "S.E.L.F.I.E." anchor chart. It prints on four pieces of regular computer paper, and you simply tape them together. The second page of this document includes individual handouts to either hand out to each student, or hang at your stations around the room. You do not need to cut these out as they print on four separate pieces of regular-sized computer paper.
