What educators are saying

This was a solid unit and there was a lot of information! I didn't use all of it this year, but I did use the business organization activities. Very detailed plans and easy to follow, can't wait to use the rest next year. Thank you for sharing your hard work :)

    Description

Supplement your Business Ownership/Entrepreneurship curriculum with engaging digital activities for your students!

This bundle of Five (5) lesson resources covers content related to What Business Owners Must Know about Factors of Production, Business Ownership Types, the Pros and Cons of Franchise Ownership, and a project where students research and select a franchise that interests them most followed by creating a presentation. All concluding with a individual project on Favorite Entrepreneur.

    1. Factors of Production

Essential to establishing or running any business enterprise is understanding the Four Factors of Production. Entrepreneurs NEED to know these factors!

Students learn about the Four Factors of Production through a variety of modes which reflect 'educational best practices' and...this is also what keeps them engaged!

The resource lesson plan walks you through the warm-up, whole-class discussions with guided questions, a presentation with lecture and notetaking, the main activity that calls on the students to "do" instead of just sit, and two active learning closure options depending on your time constraints and teaching style.

The content is current so no dated terms and/or old-fashioned consumer products. Your students will learn subject matter using relevant trends and ideas.

    This resource includes:

    • Detailed Factors of Production lesson plan (PDF)
    • Warm-up prompt for activity with instructions (Word)
    • Guided Questions to generate discussion
    • Factors of Production Graphic Organizer for Notetaking (Word)
    • PowerPoint Presentation to help you present the content to your class (PPT)
    • Main Activity for students to apply the learning (Word)
    • Main Activity Answer Key (PDF)
    • Closure Activities that will let you know - they get it (Word)

    2. Business Ownership Types

This lesson package will help you present Types of Business Ownership through an engaging PowerPoint presentation, graphic organizer, and activity that involves an analysis of MODERN business startups. Students will assign business type(s) to four businesses (that they will be able to relate to) in a group activity and assessment. A detailed lesson plan walks you through the warm-up with guided questions provided. The 11-page PowerPoint has teacher notes below most slides to aid in your delivery. Students are provided a graphic organizer for notetaking. The assignment gives the students an opportunity to practice and apply learning. There is a teacher ANSWER key with likely student responses. Closure activity helps you to determine if they 'got it'.

Lesson package 'Compressed Zip Folder' includes:

    • Teacher Lesson Plan to guide you throughout
    • Engaging PowerPoint Presentation to introduce lesson content with teacher notes
    • Student Graphic Organizer for notetaking that matches the presentation

    3. Business Ownership – Start from scratch or buy a franchise?

In this lesson package, students will explore franchise pros and cons and make a decision on whether they would choose the franchise option if they were going into business ownership as a career choice. Teachers - you will have a detailed lesson plan that walks you and your class through a warm-up, guided discussions, PowerPoint presentation, student notetaking with a graphic organizer that will help them decide to buy a franchise or start a business from scratch. Individual student activity linked to the notes and lesson and engaging closure discussion (again with Q's provided in package and possible students responses to check for understanding)

Lesson package 'Compressed Zip Folder' includes:

    • Engaging PowerPoint Presentation to introduce lesson content (PPT)
    • Student Graphic Organizer for notetaking that matches the presentation and Student Activity handout (Word)
    • Guided Questions doc and Franchise logos docs (Word)
    • Detailed lesson plan with warm-up, links to warm-up video, directions for planned activities, discussion questions, Pros and Cons of business types and Selecting a Franchise Graphic Organizer, Closure Activity. (PDF)

    4. A worksheet for a great episode from The Profit series to reinforce learning in your Business Entrepreneurship and Franchising unit! Students need to see the concepts they learned in your class play out in real-life scenarios. Marcus Lemonis does a great job driving home the content that we are required to present.

    5. Favorite Entrepreneur Presentation Project

Here’s a lesson that ticks off many boxes. Students engage in research, technology applications, organizational skills, planning, design, and general presentation skills all while learning a bit about an entrepreneur of their choosing and…about themselves.

We all need heroes to look up to and often famous entrepreneurs act as beacons for our own journey. Who these students select often says a lot about who they are, and this project allows your students to explore their own interests.

Every year that I use this project in my Business classes, I witness students who are excited, focused, learning, and developing. I hope you experience this as well.

Planning is time-consuming! My lesson resources always include a detailed plan to walk you through it in a tone that is both professional but friendly...and loaded with tips to facilitate the delivery!

    Included in this resource:

    1. Detailed lesson plans to follow from introducing the project to presentation day approximately 9-10 days of plans (PDF)
    2. Links to video, articles, famous entrepreneur lists to introduce the project and inspire your students.
    3. Favorite Entrepreneur Prewriting and Presentation Guide (Word)
    4. Do’s and Don’ts of Presentations (PDF)
    5. How to insert rolling credits (into PowerPoint) for a closure slide. (Word)

    7. Student Peer Review Graphic Organizer (let’s keep them focused and engaged on presentation day ) (Word)
