Description

Are you looking for a way to build habits that stick around? You've found the method! Change Cards are a simple and sure way to understand how habits are formed and why Change Cards work. Five lessons use a metaphor of software coding to explain the importance of creating positive self-images. You will have a stellar year when you notice your classroom running smoother, children treating each other kindly, and substitutes complimenting your class!

Use these no- or low-prep lessons as the hook on which your kids can hang all of their SEL learning.  Discussion Points are provided and can be used to promote conversations in Morning Meetings throughout the week.  The unit includes: poster, graphic organizer, examples, word search, practice activities, tracker, and rubric. Lessons address CCSS and ASCA Standards for Mindsets and Behaviors.

PARENTS NOTICE THE DIFFERENCE!

"This year we had noticed Finley started putting herself down and speaking negatively. She has always been a perfectionist and didn’t like being wrong, but the negative talk was new. Finley started saying things like “I’m so stupid” when she would get something wrong or “I’m horrible at drawing” when she was working on an art project. Since Ms. Cole started working with Finley on positive self-talk, we have seen a difference. She no longer calls herself stupid in any situation. I have also noticed she will come home and say things like “You know what I did today that made me proud of myself?” Finley will always be her own biggest critic, and that is why I think the use of Change Cards in building her self-esteem and teaching her to think positively about herself has been the greatest skill she has gained." Thank you! -Megan R.

Program History:  Since the development of Positive Psychology in the 1980’s, author Judy Zerafa has been at the forefront of the practical application of these theories, writing the first-ever book for teens using these strategies.  In 2010, the GO FOR IT! Seven Keys to Success program received a “Highly Effective” rating in an independent study funded by the Oprah Winfrey Foundation.  Now on TPT, a digital version of her work is available!
