Description
Have some fun on the days before Thanksgiving and get your students thinking like engineers! This activity gives a holiday twist on the simple boat building density activity. In my elementary classroom, I use STEM activities to keep the chaos of the holidays educational! Watch as your students stay focused in the days before a vacation!
This STEM activity is set up as a scientific experiment. Students follow a procedure, collect data, make changes to a design and make conclusions.
Task: Design a boat that will hold as many pennies (pilgrims) as possible
without sinking using 1 piece of pre-measured aluminum foil.
Materials: Aluminum Foil, LOTS of pennies, and containers of water
There are 2 different versions of the worksheet included so you can determine which is best for your level of learner.
