What educators are saying

Had purchased this as an alternative for a student who couldn't do another experiment we were doing. Ended up she didn't need it, so I haven't used this, but it looks like a great experiment. I hope I can make use of this resource at some point in the future! Thank you!
This is a low-prep experiment with good supporting student pages that made it easy for me to do this lab with my students. Thanks!

Description

This activity was used to go along with a "Characteristics of Living Things" unit. This product contains directions for setting up an experiment that explores how moisture affects the rate of mold growth on bread. Students are required to identify the parts of the experiment, form a hypothesis, and collect data over the course of 1-2 weeks. This product also contains a graphing component, where students create a double line graph to show how moisture affected mold growth over the course of the experiment. Reading and writing is also incorporated into the assignment, since students are required to read an article and use their data to answer concluding questions.

Topics and concepts covered in this assignment include:

-Parts of an experiment

-Data collection and analysis

-Graphing

-Spontaneous generation
