Description

Learning Target: I can design a scientific proposal for three brand new organs that I created to play a major role in at least one major body system in order to help the major body system function better.

This is a fun, engaging project for students to extend their learning about the major organs and body systems inside the human or animal bodies. With a full-time gifted classroom in mind, the resource hits the gifted students' needs by allowing them to create an authentic product and presentation, examine complexity of knowledge, solve real-world problems in a creative and critical manner, reflect on their learning, and make application to the real-world.

What's included:

  • Task directions for student engagement
  • Step-by-step guide explaining the task
  • Editable Powerpoint template for student use
  • Checklist for easy grading

Not only does this product hit the standards for human/animal body system, but it also integrates standards for informational writing and research. Also, this is easy to use for both in-person and virtual use. The teacher can easily have students use posters, hand-written essays/letters, or one-pagers for in-person students, and PowerPoints or typed documents for students with virtual access.

Standards used: SC.5.L.14.2; SC.5.L.14.1; SC.6.L.14.5; W.5.2; W.5.1; W.4.2; W.4.1; W.6.1; W.6.2
