What educators are saying

Awesome resource, I was looking for something to end the year with my 8th graders. Thank you for the resource and the suggestions on how to implement it into my class.

Description

Description:

Do you need a fun hands-on STEM challenge for the end of the school year? This Bottle Rocket Challenge is the perfect way to keep middle school students engaged during the last week of school. Students will work in groups to design a rocket with a 2-liter bottle and launch it outside with an Aquapod launcher. Students will work through the engineering design process to create their rocket and there is an option to have students connect their rocket design to physical science concepts (this is a great way to review physics concepts that you have taught throughout the school year). This is a 5-day challenge and involves launching the bottle rockets outside.

What's Included:

  • Overview of Bottle Rocket Challenge
  • PDF and editable PowerPoint file of the three-page student packet (two versions included)
  • Editable PowerPoint slides with instructions for all 5 days of the lesson
  • Editable Google slides with instructions for all 5 days of the lesson

Materials You Will Need:

Aquapod Bottle Rocket Launcher, bike pump, 2-liter bottles, duct tape, styrofoam plates, cardstock paper, access to water, and basic supplies like scissors, masking tape, markers, & paper.
