What educators are saying

This resource is exactly what I needed for our book clubs. I was able to create booklets for each of my students that they will use to guide their novel studies and discussions with their groups. Thank you!
The students really enjoyed this and I will be using it again next year to help encourage them to read and open them up to different kinds of stories.

    Description

I LOVE that this can work for ANY book.  I have packets made for my small group and I can easily have them flip to the page to work.  It is awesome! Thank you!” - Amy B.

You’ve heard Book Clubs (or Literature Circles) are a fun way to get your students reading and talking about books. You’ve even heard Book Clubs make reading fun for your most reading-averse students. But how do you start them? How do you run them effectively? How do you make sure all your students—regardless of reading level—get the most out of them? And how do you teach them through distance learning?

You’ll be able to answer all of these questions and more with my Book Club Fiction and Nonfiction Bundle. This bundle brings together my Fiction and Nonfiction digital and printable graphic organizers into one resource packed full of ideas for planning your Book Clubs AND you a get a digital version as well! The graphic organizers provide multiple prompts to help your students think more deeply about the text. Your students will also be able to practice and refine their reading comprehension and other skills as they engage in meaningful conversations with their Club members.

Best of all, you can use these with ANY book! That means you can use them over and over again with any book your students read—saving you time and money.

This resource is appropriate for 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th grades.

    Differentiation

It’s easy to provide differentiated learning in Book Clubs. Just assign different books or google slides according to each club’s reading level. Voilà!

    How It Works

You can use this product in several ways—independent reading centers, homework assignments, or assign in Google classroom etc.

But for me, I like to give a mini-lesson covering our weekly skill before meeting with students in guided reading groups or virtual book clubs that meet in small groups online. During that first book club meeting, we read a chapter and then together we fill out a graphic organizer about the weekly skill. That direct modeling sets them up for success in future meetings where they have to fill out the graphic organizer independently. Also, I don’t assign my students different jobs. Instead, every student works on our weekly skill and gets the practice they need.

There are also different ways to prepare the materials. You can choose the skills and graphic organizers ahead of time for the entire novel to make packets. Or, if you’re using reading notebooks, have the students glue the graphic organizers inside. Then you can give the printable out one at a time each week as you cover a different skill.

For the digital graphic organizers you can make a copy of the slide show and choose which graphic organizers your students will be using while reading the novel. You can delete any slides you will not need. You can also just assign one graphic organizer at a time if you wish.
