Description
Celebrate Black History Month or integrate scientists of color into your class by having students research Black environmentalists, conservationists, advocates, and activists and their contributions to environmental causes of all kinds! This product includes 26 Black environmentalists, one for each letter of the alphabet A-Z. This research-based collaborative slideshow can be used in the month of February to explore Black contributions to environmentalist movements or anytime during the year to encourage students’ skills of researching and presenting information with a special focus on contributions of Black environmentalists.
This product includes a Google Slides template with directions, an example slide, and 26 A-Z Black environmentalists for students to research as a group or independently. Prominent environmentalists from all over the United States and the world are included along with an interactive, clickable slide of the alphabet to quickly select any letter that represents an environmentalist.
This project is great for distance learning or as an asynchronous project but can also be used for in person class. The slideshow requires no editing and can be uploaded directly to your online platform for students to work on collaboratively or independently. The directions are provided in both English and Spanish and would be suitable for English speakers as well as English Language Learner (ELLs)/English as a Second Language (ESL) students. This product is appropriate for middle to high school aged students and can be used in an Environmental Science, History/Social Studies, Spanish, English/Language Arts (ELA), or English Language Development class.
