    Description

    Bink and Gollie by Kate DiCamillo and Alison McGhee, have to be the most appealing characters in children's literature. While total opposites, they can teach our children so much about friendship and loyalty. This product includes novel studies for all three books: Bink and Gollie, Bink and Gollie: Two for One, and Bink and Gollie: Best Friends Forever. With these novel studies, your students will learn to answer concrete and inferential questions, summarize short stories, and write better paragraphs. They will be strengthening their creative writing skills as well as their vocabularies. This unit study can be used for guided reading, independent reading, or literature circles (I have used portions for homework as well). Bink and Gollie has a lexile level of 420 and is a Fountas and Pinnell level K. This unit study satisfies RL.1 and 2 CCSS and W.1 and 2 CCSS. I have used this unit with success from gifted grade one through grade four (for students reading with extra support). It is a versatile unit, as the stories are funny and appealing to children of all ages (my high school readers have been known to beg for Bink and Gollie read-alouds).

    Included in this novel study:

    * Comprehension questions for all three stories (concrete and inferential)

    *Vocabulary activities for all three stories

    * Character development, Theme, and Problem/Solution recognition activities

    * Summary activities

    * Creative writing activities

    * Paragraph writing practice

    * Narrative and expository writing pieces for each story.

    ** If you are are out of school and engaging with your students online and in a distance learning capacity, you may distribute my products to you students using the internet (but not in a way so that they are available to EVERYONE on the internet) Ex: Google Classroom is fine!**
