Below Grade Level Assessments for Reading Wonders Grade 2 Unit 5 (freebie)

These below grade level assessments are for Reading Wonders Grade 2 Unit 5. The stories are from the WonderWorks intervention program. However, I wanted the questions to be more reflective of the types of questions found in the on-grade level passages. I have retyped the passage and rewritten the questions. I have also added a written response question for students to respond to by writing a complete sentence.

Many of my students are unable to independently read these passages. For these students, I read the passage to the students aloud. Then I am still able to assess some vocabulary, grammar, and comprehension each week. If my students are able to read the passage, I have them do it independently and then give them an approaching level passage as a read aloud assessment.

These passages would also be good for additional practice for on level students or below level 3rd grade students. Even if you do not use the Wonders program, these passages would still be good for your students as an assessment or practice.
