What educators are saying

This is my favorite of all of the mentor sentences activities I have purchased/found. It is thorough with a wide variety of sources. I am grateful for this item!
Effortless way to start class. You get to the point where you're bored with yourself even though your kids haven't seen your material yet!

    Description

    Product #1: Bell-Ringers for the ENTIRE YEAR

    This bundle of EDITABLE bell-ringers for the entire school year contains 40 weeks worth of prompts (323 SLIDES)!

    Each day of the week is assigned to a specific type of prompt to challenge students with various skills tasks. Here is the weekly key of prompts in this bundle:

    Mondays = Vocabulary Tasks

    Tuesdays = Debate Topics

    Wednesday = Mentor Sentences

    Thursday = Literary Analysis Activities

    Fridays = Creative Writing Prompts

    • Use these bell-ringers at the beginning of each class period throughout the week. Students can finish them for homework as needed or go back to something they started to finish later during writing workshop.
    • You can also extend these bell-ringers into entire class period lessons as fits your curriculum plan.
    • This assortment of bell-ringers will target different skills throughout the week and provides a focus activity to transition students into English class.

    When you purchase this bundle, you will find a zipped folder that contains three copies of the bell-ringers prompts in PowerPoint.

    1) The first ppt contains a PNG copy of the original file with the special fonts. This copy is not editable but is included for your use if you would like to use the special fonts. I have included this version because most people will not have these special fonts on their computers, and the formatting will be off.

    2) The second copy is the editable copy, and it contains the same information but with basic fonts such as Times and Garamond.

    3) The third copy of the bell-ringers is a .pdf file for your use. This file also contains the special fonts from the original PowerPoint file.

    There are plenty of bell-ringers here to keep your students engaged for the entire year! They make for excellent activities to help students transition into English class.

    Product #2: 30 Mentor Sentences for Literary & Rhetorical Devices with Writing Revision

    This product is a POWER POINT that contains 30 MENTOR SENTENCES from famous classic writers to model key literary terms, rhetorical devices, and syntactical structures for students.

    For each sentence, students are to:

    1. Copy the sentence.

    2. Make observations about the sentence.

    3. Imitate the sentence.

    4. Learn about literary devices.

    5. Answer questions about how the devices are used for rhetorical and literary effect.

    6. Revise an essay with a new sentence modeled after that of the famous writer.

    7. Reflect back on the new added sentence.

    8. Share with a partner.

    These MENTOR SENTENCE activities will take students through the process of not only using literary and rhetorical devices in action but will integrate them into writing workshop as mini-lessons for making their writing more powerful.

    This POWER POINT is fully editable and is suitable for Advanced Placement and modifiable for other levels of HIGH SCHOOL English.

    PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS ZIP FILE CONTAINS THREE VERSIONS OF THIS PRODUCT. IT IS NOT POSSIBLE TO EMBED FONTS INTO POWER POINT WITH MAC, SO I HAVE INCLUDED A .PDF VERSION AND AN NON-EDITABLE .PNG VERSION (ON POWER POINT) THAT YOU CAN USE TO PRESERVE THE ORIGINAL FONTS AS DESIGNED. THIS FILE ALSO INCLUDES THE ORIGINAL POWER POINT THAT IS EDITABLE BUT WILL OPEN WITH DEFAULT FONTS FOR POWER POINT UNLESS YOU OWN THE SAME FONTS AS IN THE PRESENTATION.
