Description

This editable document includes three different tools for managing student behavior...

1. Respectful Choices Checklist: I have used this as a quick end-of-the-day reflection tool with students who struggle with being respectful in the classroom. We fill it out together and quickly reflect on their day. I make a copy of the week's completed checklists on Friday and send it home to be signed by a parent and returned the next week, to communicate with families how we are working on the student's behavior goals!

2. Positive Learning Choices Checklist: I use this reflection checklist just like the other, but with students who struggle with staying on task, using time wisely, and being a distraction to their classmates. It includes a column of actions that contribute to a positive learning environment and a column of choices that take away from a positive learning environment.

3. Small Group Behavior Contract: I created this contract for a student or group of students who need additional behavior support on top of my regular classroom management plan. It has sections to set behavior goals and brainstorm rewards and consequences.

These tools have been a turning point for some of my most difficult students! They help kids keep track of both the positive and negative choices they make, and understand how those choices affect others. They are also a simple way to communicate with parents and document the ways you are supporting a student in his or her behavioral goals.
