What educators are saying

This is such a great resource. It has recently been updated so now has even more to offer. I like to use it at the beginning of school to help students learn rules.
I used this in my sub plan when I had to be absent unexpectedly. The students enjoyed it and I didn't have to rely on the sub to teach a new skill or concept.

Description

The first few days of school are crucial in developing classroom climate and rules. David Shannon’s book, David Goes to School, takes a humorous and exaggerated look at how David adjusted to the school rules. Kiddos Connect has added several activities in conjunction with this book:

• Class rules book

• Retell – David Goes to School, by David Shannon

• Crafts

o “Good Job” badge

o David puppet

• Class book – No, David (kiddos create class rules)

• Class graph (Did you like the book?)

• Kiddos personal connections to the book

• Several writing formats

• Shared book

o David Goes to School (popcorn word: no)

o Kiddo take-home copy

• Directed drawing of David

• Trace and color David

• I can printables – Trace, Color and Cut

• Help David color (color words)

• Help David add the dominoes (simple addition)

• Help David graph (beginning graph)

• Help David count his school supplies (1:1 correspondence)

• Help David have a star-filled day! (partner game)

Revisited and Revised:

· I can write my name (practice writing name)

· David Roll a Letter (practice writing letters)

· Where’s David? (different versions for upper case, lower case and numeral recognition)

· David Letter and Sound Game (letter/sound recognition)

· Help David Get a Star (Sight Word Recognition)

· David Number Line (numeral recognition and order)

· Practice drawing and writing David

· David graph

· Kiddos Connect activity (interview and write name)

· Shared Reading with kiddo take-home book

o David’s Week (focus word: On)

o David, David, Who Do You See (focus word: me, focus concept: community helpers)

Thank you very much!

Count to answer “how many?” questions about as many as 20 things arranged in a line, a rectangular array, or a circle, or as many as 10 things in a scattered configuration; given a number from 1-20, count out that many objects.
Identify whether the number of objects in one group is greater than, less than, or equal to the number of objects in another group, e.g., by using matching and counting strategies.
Compare two numbers between 1 and 10 presented as written numerals.
